Trustee Roles & Responsibilities

1.     PTA Chair

The PTA Chair coordinates the team and liaises with the school. They manage and maintain the governance structure, ensure there is a clear strategy for the PTA, chair team meetings and has oversight on all activity. They are responsible for managing and coordinating the PTA and are supported by the other Trustees, Committee Members and Senior Leaders within the school.

2.     PTA Treasurer

All Trustees are equally responsible for the finances of the charity, however they are supported by a finance committee (when there is no Treasurer in place) to ensure segregation of duties and appropriate financial controls in line with guidelines.

When there is a dedicated PTA Treasurer they are responsible for coordinating PTA Finances. They ensure accounts are maintained, provide governance for spend, complete tax returns (with support from the school Bursar), and ensure parent payments from the second-hand shop are processed.

3.     PTA Secretary

The PTA Secretary maintains central filing and storage of PTA documents, manages the scheduling, agendas, and minuting of meetings. They maintain volunteer lists and contact details, have oversight of risks, and provide support to the Trustees.

4.     Deputy Chair(s)

The Deputy Chairs have a versatile role providing support across all aspects of the PTA and deputising for the chair, where needed. The role supports the other Trustees, committee members.
